Pop Up Butterfly Card made with Silhouette Cameo

Today I have a fun little card!
It has an acetate spring that I cut on the Silhouette and floating on the spring are three butterflies.
I hope you all can see it O.K.

It's much easier to see from the side because the acetate is so invisible, it's like these butterflies are flying right off the page!

The Sun also sits on the spring at the top.
It's a little windy out today and these butterflies are flying around like crazy!

Here is what I used for this project

I used Butterfly images I had on my computer,  but these Print and Cut will work perfectly!

First I cut the spiral pop up at 5" for a 6" wide card out of the acetate, I had a blade setting of 3 and speed of 3. I did a couple of test cuts just to check on the settings, since blade vary. I cut of the last two rotations because it was a bit long for the card. I wanted it to be in an open position when viewing the card. Next glue the center of the spiral to the top center of the card and glue the larger end to the bottom of the card.

For the clouds I created an internal offset, changed the line to black at 1 pt, switch off the cut, so the clouds would only cut on the outside of the shape. I used some foam tape to pop the cloud out a bit.

The butterflies on my card are double sided, so I printed them with a mirror image. To do that go to Options> Transform > Mirror Options and the mirror window will open on the screen. Once you have the mirror image Print & Cut both and glue them wrong sides together. Bend the wings up. Ink the outside edge with the black catseye fluid chalks.

The Sun is mounted near the top on the spiral and the butterflies are added intermittently. There are a total of five butterflies, three on the spiral, one next to the title and the last one near the cloud.
The title is created using Garamond font and I just grouped it all together.

Well that's it for the floating butterfly card! Thanks so much for stopping by.

  3. OMG!!! You created your own versions of an action wobble via your machine? BRILLIANT!!!

I wonder if Glue Dots would work instead of the Zip Dry? I don't like the odor of it.

    Gorgeous!!!!

    1. Helmar's 450 is another alternative to Zipdry and its a lot less stinky. But glue dots should work fine too!
