New Fancy Pants "Off to School" Collection

No this is not me...it's my DD. (like I wish I had a time machine, Lol). My DD is headed back to middle school on Monday and I wanted to do a page that incorporated her excitement and anticipation of returning to school. Designing Teen pages or Pre-teen in my case are always a challenge, we are sort of past the pretty pink pages loaded with Prima blooms, although I'll never stop doing those completely. But they aren't fitting for school event or other school functions. So, I have been designing my own backgrounds.
I've been taking an online Photoshop class at Lynda.com and I have been doing it off and on for a couple of years now. But this summer I decided to get serious and finish at least the fundamentals class. I had few private lessons years ago with a local photographer and he give me my first copy of Photoshop7 and I very slowly started to learn a few basics. This year my DH give me CS5 and that really motivated me to get better. This layout background was started in Photoshop with an overlay from Designer Digitals you can find them here. They have nice tutorials and it's a great place to get started.

This is a close up of the photo I used it's a Triptych mask from Florabella, at the time it was given away on her facebook page. The photo frame is from Rhonna Farrer. The White overlay is from Designer Digitals too.
